MANILA, Philippines - Seaoil-DC karter and ART Grand Prix junior driver Gabriel Tayao-Cabrera was the most awarded karter at the 11th Golden Wheel Awards held at the SM Aura Samsung Hall honoring motorsports heroes who topped last year’s race season.
A three-time Golden Wheel awardee, Tayao-Cabrera bagged the Clubman Karter of the Year, Overall ROK Clubman champion, Overall ROK Junior champion, Overall Formula SL Novice champion, Overall Asian Karting Open Championships first runner-up and Overall Sorteo Grand Prix KF 3 second runner-up.
“Racing in the top two local classes is a test of physical and mental endurance. To end up on top at the end of the season is truly a personal victory, †said Tayao-Cabrera.
The 14-year-old karter was also honored as the pioneer awardee of the first Jose Ochoa Memorial Award for his exceptional feat in his debut year racing in the junior class in local and international races. He is also slated to be honored at the annual awards night of the Automobile Association of the Philippines next month.
