Lascuña rallies for joint 5th in Indonesia
MANILA, Philippines - Tony Lascuña capped his remarkable comeback from way down with a bogey-free three-under 68 as he salvaged joint fifth finish in the Indonesia Open won by India’s Gaganjeet Bhullar in Pantai Indah Kapuk, Jakarta yesterday.
Lascuña, who started at 94th with a three-over 74 opening, worked his way back with rounds of 65 and 67 then capped his fightback with a 34-34 card to finish with a 72-hole total of 10-under 274 worth $20,193 (P868,300).
Bhullar hit three birdies at the back for a flawless 68 and beat Malaysian Nicholas Fung and Thai Chapchai Nirat by three to bag the crown at 16-under 268. Fung and Nirat fired identical 66s to share second at 271.
Mars Pucay shot a 68 to finish tied at 29th with former Major champion Retief Goosen (70) at 280 while Angelo Que failed to sustain his own comeback with a 73 and ended up joint 35th at 281.
Miguel Tabuena carded a 70 and shared 51st place at 285.
Over in Japan, Juvic Pagunsan turned in a 70 and finished tied for 39th at 291 in the Casio World Open ruled by Hideki Matsuyama (70-276) at the Kochi Kuroshio Country Club in Kochi, Japan yesterday.
