Tagum hosts Palawan Pawnshop netfest

MANILA, Philippines - The chase for honors and junior tennis ranking points resumes tomorrow when the Palawan Pawnshop-Palawan Express Pera Padala regional age-group tournament holds another four-day event at the Tagum City Lawn Tennis Club in Davao del Norte.

Listup is ongoing with promoter Conrado Magat, also the president of the host club, waiving the registration fee to encourage more players to join the tournament serving as 23rd leg of the year-round, nationwide circuit put up by Palawan Pawnshop and Babolat.

Organizers said young players from Gen. Santos City, Sultan Kudarat, Koronadal, Kidapawan, Malita, Mati, Digos, Mlang, Kabacan, San Carlos, Panabo, Tadeco, Davao del Sur and Davao del Norte have signed up for the event

“We expect hundreds of players to compete in the tournament which is our way of helping promote the sport and at the same time give our players a venue where they could hone their talent and skills,” said Palawan Pawnshop COO Bobby Castro.

Magat also said giveaways will be given to all participants in the tournament which serves as the regional tournament program for children and staged to address the need for a grassroots tennis centered on values formation, according to Technosports president Guillermo Nocom.

Titles to be disputed in the event, sanctioned by Philta, are the 10-unisex, 12-, 14-, 16- and 18-and-under for boys and girls.
