MANILA, Philippines - The first Got Skills Age Group Basketball Showdown reels off Sunday with over 600 kids from some 40 schools seeing action at the Xavier School sports complex in San Juan.
The 10-weekend tournament features five age categories from nine to 13-year-old levels. Twelve teams are vying in the premier 13-year-old category, led by Group A cast La Salle Greenhills-PRADA, Marist, San Beda-Taytay, Chiang Kai Shek, National University and La Salle-Zobel.
Bunched in Group B are La Salle Greenhills-PAYA, Diliman Preparatory School, Colegio San Agustin, Don Bosco-Makati, Southeastern College and San Beda-Alabang.
The 12-under division is composed of Xavier School, San Beda-Alabang, St. Francis of Sta. Ana, Marist, Colegio San Agustin, St. Mary’s Quezon City, San Benildo, and La Salle-Zobel.
Eight teams will be clashing in 11-under, six in the 10-under and 9-under classes of the event backed by Chris Sports, SKLZ Equipment, Fitness and Athletics Co., Choi Garden Restaurant and Goody Gulp Milk Drink.

The top four teams in each bracket of the 13-under section will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament designed to develop not only the basketball skills for players aged 9-13 years old but also their core muscle power and endurance.
It is also the mission of the tournament to promote and provide basketball programs for the kids that will stimulate their health, development, and enjoyment in a safe environment, and develop fitness, wellness, social interaction, teamwork, fair play, representative and leadership opportunities.
