MANILA, Philippines - Philippine National Police dominated PhilHealth, 98-79, to arrange a showdown with Judiciary for the first UNTV Cup crown at the Treston College Gym in Taguig City last Sunday.
Olan Omiping fired 30 points, hauled down nine rebounds and dished off seven assists while Julius Criste shot 23 points as PNP led from start to finish to post its seventh straight win for a berth in the finals.
Omiping highlighted his superb all-around game with six triples, pouring in 22 points in the first three periods, giving PNP a huge 69-52 lead.
Don Camaso scored 12 points in the fourth period while John Hall completed a clutch three-point play as Judiciary pulled off a come-from-behind 73-69 win over Armed Forces of the Philippines.
Hall took a pass from Ariel Capus off a looseball scramble and hit an undergoal stab plus a foul from Wilfredo Casulla, giving Judiciary a 71-69 lead.
The Judiciary cagers they foiled Cavaliers offense and Camaso and John Herbert Bergonio accounted for Judiciary’s last two points from the stripe.
Hall finished with 29 points while Camaso wound up with 19 markers and 19 rebounds and two blocks and Capus snared 13 rebounds with eight points and three assists.
Game One of the best-of-three finals will be played on Oct. 27, also at the Treston Gym.
