Japeth out for 4-6 weeks; Ginebra eyes Menk return

MANILA, Philippines - The Brgy. Ginebra Kings are looking to re-activate veteran big man Erik Menk after it was confirmed that Japeth Aguilar has sustained an MCL injury.

"Lumabas na kaninang umaga (ang result) and Dr. (George) Canlas confirmed it's MCL (injury)," Agustin told Philstar.com. "Kailangan namin mag-double effort lalo kulang kami sa tao."

Aguilar will be out for four to six weeks that means he'll miss the rest of the conference as the elimination round is scheduled to end on Sept. 22.

Aguilar sustained the injury after going for a dunk against Barako Bull import Mike Singletary with over four minutes left in the first quarter of their game Friday night.  The Kings went on to suffer their second loss in three starts, 104-91.

With Aguilar out and Kerby Raymundo also nursing an injury, the Kings are looking at the 2004-05 PBA MVP to be re-activated.

"Yun (pagre-sign kay Menk) ang tinitingnan naming option sa ngayon. The management will talk to him," Agustin said.

The 39-year old veteran played for the Asean Basketball League champion San Miguel Beermen last season after 12 years with Ginebra that started in 2001.
