DENVER -- The Denver Nuggets have re-signed backup centerTimofey Mozgov to a three-year, $14 million contract.
Mozgov, who has averaged 3.9 points and 3.1 rebounds in 130 career games, figures to get more minutes under new coach Brian Shaw. He averaged 2.6 points and 2.6 boards in 41 games last season.
After helping Russia win the bronze medal at the London Olympics,Mozgov was slated to start last year, but Kosta Koufos wowed George Karl in camp and won the starting job. With JaVale McGee's big contract, Mozgov was the odd man out.
The Nuggets traded Koufos to Memphis on draft night. McGee is expected to start this season with Mozgov and J.J. Hickson getting backup minutes.
