Millet retains dragfest Yokohama Expert title

MANILA, Philippines - Arvin Jay Millet of TEMZ successfully defended his Yokohama Expert title in the finale of the 2013 Petronas Philippine Drag Racing Championship Southern Series recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit.

The 20-year-old Millet missed the Southern Series overall crown but nonetheless came through with a big feat in winning the Yokohama Expert crown for the second straight year in this event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petronas, Yokohama, GT Radials, M&H Tires and media partners Racing Beat at Wave 89.1 and Inside Motoring @DZRJ 810khz.

He was a strong contender for the overall title but suffered a bad break, yielding the crown to Jayson Ong of JCT-Blanche Racing.

Hardly losing his focus, Millet completed a triumphant ride in Yokohama Expert, clocking 13.008 seconds in the quarter-mile run as against 13.606 by talented newcomer Rynell See of DAWG.

See made an impressive debut bouncing back from the loser’s circle to finish a strong second.

Jackson Go of H3 Autoworks came in third.

Jannery Millet, cousin of Arvin Jay, also showed his great driving skills, clinching the Sportsman crown.

He clocked 14.404 seconds in the final showdown where he quickly pulled ahead over eventual runner-up Ericson Suarez (15.649).

Angelo Mendoza of R-Perf took third place and bagged the overall Sportsman runner-up plum.

Top lady driver Jeannette Go, meanwhile, went home with the GT Radial Hotstreet Overall title.

She turned back Karl Llanes in a double-breakout finale while Jarold Marbella secured third place.
