Gun safety seminar for women up

MANILA, Philippines - The 21st Defense and Sporting Arms Show (DSAS) will offer a free seminar on gun safety and handling specifically designed for women when the country’s longest running gun show is held July 18-22 at the Megatrade Halls 1, 2, and 3, SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City.

Speakers from the 5Zero, Center for Pro-Shooters Association of the Philippines will conduct the seminar entitled: Armed Women for Self Defense, on July 18 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The gun handling and safety primer is one of the new lectures being offered by the Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers (AFAD) for the DSAS this year which also include â€œLearning from Boston Marathon and Connecticut Shooting” by Ted Esguerra (July 22, 2:30 p.m.) that will focus on personal and home defense principles.

The theme of the 21st DSAS this year is “Bringing Pride to the Philippines: 2013 Australasia IPSC Handgun Champions” to honor the country’s top guns led by world shooting champion Jethro Dionisio, also AFAD president, who brought honors for the country.

Other free seminars include “Gun Safety and Responsible Gun Ownership” by Eustacio “Jun” Sinco – an accredited instructor of the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office, “The Future of Sport Shooting” by Rosey Labayog – Steel Challenge Shooting Association, and a panel discussion on the new gun law by the A2S5 Coalition – a multi-sectoral group promoting a constitutional provision on the “right to live.”
