Abac Cordero - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Wushu Federation of the Philippines has found a perfect pin-up girl in Bea Binene, a beautiful actress, singer, model, environmentalist and wushu athlete rolled into one.

The other day, WFP president Tan She Ling and secretary-general Julian Camacho formally introduced the 15-year-old Binene to the press as Wushu Ambassador.

“I’m very thankful for this honor. I didn’t expect this but I’m really happy. It’s an honor,” said Binene, who used to join local wushu competitions.

As ambassador of the sport she loves, Binene said she would devote a little more time into it, and vowed to resume training.

Philippine Olympic Committee president Jose Cojuangco as well as Philippine Sports Commission chairman Richie Garcia witnessed the presentation.

Binene, a GMA-7 talent, also makes representations for the Haribon Foundation, Plans International and Philippine Biochar Association.

She was all smiles during the presentation held at the PSC administrative building, and vowed to be a perfect role model for all the young athletes, especially those in wushu.

Binene, according to the WFP president, will perform the role as Wushu Ambassador until 2018, and will play a key role promoting the 2013 Asian Junior Wushu Championships to be held in Makati on Aug. 8 to 12.

“I’m very excited to be our  Wushu Ambassador,” she said.
