MANILA, Philippines - The AMA University Junior Titans routed Sacred Heart of Cagayan, 90-72, to gain its first win in the POC-PSC Under-16 national games yesterday at the Arellano gym.
The Junior Titans drew 20 points from Jason David and 18 from Clark Quijano as they bounced back from an opening loss to defending champion University of the Visayas for a 1-1 win-loss mark in the 10-team tournament staged by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilpinas as part of the ongoing POC-PSC National Games.
“The boys played hard in defense and executed their plays well,†said head coach Mark Herrera, the SBP U-13 national mentor who also steered the UE Junior Warriors to the U-16 crown in 2011.
Yesterday’s other winners were UST over Claret of Zambonga and Our Lady of the Pillar Region 2 over St Albert of Dagupan.
AMA and the UST are representing NCR in the tournament, which includes Claret of Zambonga, Our Lady of the Pillar of Region 2, St Albert of Dagupan, University of Visayas, Sacred Heart of Cagayan, Sacred Heart of Lucena, Assumption Davao, International School for Better Beginnings Lucena.
