Jeong registers brace as Socceroo blanks All-Japan, 4-0

MANILA, Philippines – Korean striker Lee Jeong Woo unloaded a pair of goals as Team Socceroo blanked Manila All-Japan, 4-0, to move four matches away from a historic sweep in the Second Division of the United Football League at the McKinley Hill grounds in Taguig City Sunday night.

Lee struck on the 14th and the 35th minute to give the Socceroo booters a two-goal cushion at halftime before Song Woo and Andres Pinga came through on the 49th and 64th, respectively, to tear All-Japan apart.

Team Socceroo thus extended its amazing run to 12 victories to remain unchallenged on top of the division with 36 match points, a clear 12 points away from closest pursuer Agila FC, which was idle at second with 24 on eight wins against four losses.

Also, Team Socceroo is now four wins away from completing a sweep of the division that will gain them promotion to the first division, where the country's top football clubs are participating.

Manila All-Japan remained at the bottom with only five points to show on a win and two draws against eight setbacks.

Meanwhile, Rory Mansbridge scored a brace as he lifted Union Internacional Manila to a 2-1 triumph over Laos FC to move to solo No. 3 with 21 points on six victories and three standoffs against two defeats.

Mansbridge blasted away with a pair of brilliant goals on the third and 36 minute and Union tightened up the screw in the second half to hold Laos to just a goal courtesy of Abdalla Ahmed Hwedi on the 47th to seal it.

Laos got stranded at No. 5 with 14 points on four wins and two draws against six losses.
