MANILA, Philippines - Foiled the last time out, Blackwater Sports tries to nail down an outright semifinal berth again, this time against Boracay Rum in the PBA D-League Philippine Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City.

“We still maintain our positive mindset and we are looking forward to winning our remaining two games in the elims,” said Blackwater coack Leo Isaac, whose wards’ first crack at an outright semis seat was foiled by defending champion NLEX.

But the Elite face another tough challenge in their 2 p.m. encounter with the Waves, who at 5-4 are just as determined to advance to the playoffs.

Boracay Rum, however, is coming off a 101-83 blowout loss to streaking Cagayan Valley.

In the other games, Jumbo Plastic shoots for its fourth consecutive win as it battles EA Regen at 12 noon while NLEX tries to extend their winning streak to seven as they take on lowly Informatics at 4 p.m.

“Our chances of making the playoff is not too encouraging but we’re still hoping. We’ll try to win our last two games and see what happens,” said Jumbo Plastic coach Steve Tiu.

The Giants, practically out of it all with a 1-5 start, bounced back by sweeping their next three games, capping it with a stunning 70-69 decision over Big Chill last April 25.

In contrast, EA Regen, one of the league’s powerhouse teams, is out to stave off elimination. Tied with Boracay Rum at sixth, Team Delta hopes to bounce back from a 73-77 loss to Big Chill with a sweep of their last two games for a shot at playoff berth.
