MANILA, Philippines - Fruitas hopes to recover lost grounds as it battles a surging Big Chill side today even as Cagayan Valley seeks a crucial victory against EA Regen in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City today.
Shakers’ coach Nash Racela said the 2 p.m. match will be a good test of character for his young team.
“We’ll see if this team is capable of coming back from a loss,†said Racela, whose wards are coming off a 74-89 setback to Cagayan Valley that snapped their impressive 3-0 start.
“It is important for us to win if we want to have a good position in the playoffs,†said Racela.
The Superchargers, on the other hand, is out to keep the momentum of their 93-92 squeaker over the Rising Suns that tied them with the idle NLEX Road Warriors and Rising Stars.
“The players have learned their lessons from our defeats to Hog’s Breath and Café France and are determined to redeem themselves. With a two-day rest, hopefully we could sustain the momentum,†said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
Cagayan Valley, meanwhile, is fancied to get past EA Regen Med in their 4 p.m. encounter.
The top two teams after the elims will earn outright berths in the semifinals with the next four clinching quarterfinal berths wherein the third and fourth placed teams hold twice-to-beat advantages.
