Final 2 seats staked in Angeles poker leg

MANILA, Philippines - With veteran Martin Corpuz all but a cinch for the Player of the Year award, the battle for the last two tickets to the Final Table of Champions in the P10 million Philippine Poker Tour starts today in Pampanga with Angeles Poker Tour card room in Angeles City as host.

Another P1 million in guaranteed purse will be up for grabs in the six-day event in Angeles City starting at 4 p.m. with the usual buy-in of P5,500. It will also include side events such as the No Limit Hold ‘Em Freezeout tomorrow, Ladies side event tomorrow, Head Hunter event Saturday, Pot Limit Badugi Sunday, Six Handed event Monday and the Pot Limit Omaha Hi Tuesday.

This early, poker enthusiasts in Pampanga are gearing up for the ninth leg, hoping to put a cabalen in the battle royale in March featuring all leg winners of the 10-stop tour.

Already, Davao has produced three champions in Rebel Magdagasang (second leg), Auggie Nasser (fifth leg) and Dennis Soriano (seventh leg). Other winners include Dexter Luna (first leg), Jun Pacayra (third leg), Martin Corpuz (fourth leg), Sim Yong-sum (sixth leg) and James Mendoza (eighth leg).
