MANILA, Philippines - Adamson and College of St. Benilde chalked up their second straight wins while Centro Escolar University rebounded with a big win over La Salle in the second Dickies-FCBL (Filipino-Chinese Basketball League) Women’s Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare Academy gym in QC last Sunday.
With Kat Marilo and Ailier Bernadez combining for five triples in the first quarter, the Lady Blazers went on to score a 73-61 win over Ateneo to tie Adamson for the lead in the event presented by Dickies.
CSB’s win was a big follow-up to its 74-73 overtime victory over defending champion Far Eastern University in the opener last Nov. 24.
Mhea dela Torre also produced 14 markers aside from posting 10 boards and three assists for CSB to bag the Dickies Player of the Game honors.
The Lady Falcons, on the other hand, downed the University of Santo Tomas Tigresses, 83-73, to likewise stay unbeaten in the tournament backed by Smart Telecom, Powerhouse, CW Home Depot, Jumbo Plastic Linoleum and Hapee Toothpaste.
Jinky Balasta starred for Adamson with 25 points on top of five steals, two rebounds and the same number of assists.
The CEU belles barged into the win column with a 68-59 win over La Salle while FEU got 26 points from Camille Sambile to beat Lyceum of the Philippines.
Charmine Natural and Rubelyn Mendoza paced CEU with 20 and 18 points, respectively.
