Manotoc to grace first Ceris Cup golf

MANILA, Philippines - The first Ceris Cup golf tournament unfolds Thursday with around 80 players seeing action at the South course of the Canlubang Golf and Country Club in Laguna.

Many-time national seniors champion Tommy Manotoc, also the president of the National Golf Association of the Phils., will hit the ceremonial drive to kick off the 18-hole tournament held to raise funds for Sta. Cecilia Chapel inside the Ceris Village which is in need of major repair.

The Ceris Cup is the first tournament organized by the Ceris Village golfers, headed by Lito Tacujan. The event is organized by Nick Magpantay, Toto Gonzaga, Joel Trinos, Eboi Contreras and Monching Trinos.

Heading the roster of participants are Coy Quiros, a grandson of  the late Speaker Jose Yulo, national player Dottie Ardina and senior champion Rolly Viray. Registration starts at 9 a.m. with tee-off at 10:30 a.m. Awards rites will be held immediately after the tournament with TV and movie actor Menggie Cobarrubias as emcee.
