MANILA, Philippines - Jose Rizal University has joined the growing roster of teams in the upcoming PBA D-League as part of its effort to toughen up for next NCAA season.
“We know that teams in the D-League are strong that’s why we believe that this is a good preparation for us for the next NCAA season,” said JRU coach Vergel Meneses. “But if we can pull off a win or two or make it to the playoffs, the better.”
Other teams seeing action in the third season of the fledgling league are three-time champion NLEX, Big Chill, Cebuana Lhuillier, Blackwater Sports, Boracay Rum, Café France, Cagayan Rising Suns, Erase Plantcenta, Informatics/Phiten and HTC Phils.
Meneses believes their youth and enthusiasm will enable his players to compete at high level but points to their lack of experience as their downside.
