MANILA, Philippines - The Boxing Kontra Droga gets going tonight with World Boxing Council No. 5 and Philippine champion Dennis Laurente slugging it out with Indonesian Jamed Jalarante in the main event at the grand ballroom of Elorde Sports Center in Sucat.
Fight time is 6 p.m.
The Laurente-Jalarante bout, spread over 10 rounds at 148 lbs., is the featured match in the card put up by promoter/businessman Johnny Elorde in cooperation with Rotary Club of Manila 101, Cobra and PCSO.
Laurente hopes to come up with an impressive victory as he bids to appear in the undercard of Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming fourth fight with Juan Manuel Marquez on Dec. 8 in Las Vegas.
Meanwhile, Juan Miguel Elorde, grandson of the great Flash Elorde, will also be in the card as he fights Arjet Caballes of Batangas City for six rounds at 123 lbs. Other matches pit Giovanni Escaner against Rex Tito at 115 lbs over 10 rounds and Jun Hayahay versus Arjie Toquero at 119 lbs over six rounds.
