MANILA, Philippines – Thirty-eight teams in seven age groups are competing in the month-long Southern Classic Inter-school baseball/softball tournament set to start tomorrow with a seven-game bill at the Alabang Country Club.
“We want to provide more playing opportunities to young boys and girls who enjoy baseball and softball and even as the league is only on its second year, we are already looking forward to developing regional legs outside Metro Manila – Clark for Central Luzon, Cebu for the Visayas, and Davao for Mindanao and eventually hold national championships,“ said Pepe Muñoz, founding member of the organizing Junior Baseball and Softball Foundation of the Philippines.
Events on tap are boys 6-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, and 15-16 and girls 12-under and under-18 with teams from De la Salle-Lipa in Batangas among the participants.
Other schools in month-long tournament presented by Gatorade, Petron, Phil. Transmarine Carriers and ICTSI are Ateneo, La Salle-Zobel, Southridge, Smokey Mountain, Alabang Tigers, Manresa, Seven Seas, Kalookan, Woodrose, Vicente Lim and Bayanan.
