MANILA, Philippines - The Manila Southwoods seniors chapter holds its second trimester birthday bash golf tournament today with Danny Gutierrez and Mentz Deguito going for back-to-back wins in their respective divisions at the Legends course in Carmona, Cavite.
Gutierrez took the Class A crown last year with a net 67 from a gross 77, edging Antonio Valera, who had a gross 76 and a net 69 while Deguito nipped Mario Badillo in the countback to bag the Class B plum in the annual event, the second of three tournaments lined up this year honoring the birthday celebrants for each trimester.
Format of this year’s tournament, however, will be medal play, according to the organizing Southwoods Seniors Chapter headed by president Jose Cedo and vice president/tournament chairman Paco Gonzalez with full handicap (maximum 36) using the Aug. 2012 index/course handicap.
Listup begins at 6:30 a.m. with the shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The event is backed by Anako Phils. Corp., Asia Pacific Golf Corp. (APGC), CH Asia World of Electric, Inc., Electro Mechanical Products, Inc. (EMPI), Fairbright Enterprises, Inc., Red Eagle Lending Investors, Inc., Romago, Inc., Rudy Project Phils. and Tocoms Phils., Inc.
Classification in the event, featuring senior chapter members and guests aged 55 years old and above last May, is Class A (0-12), Class B (13-24), Class C (25-36) and Super Senior (75 years old and above).
