AKTV, Younghusbands form Phl Chelsea Football Club

-

Manila, Philippines - AKTV continues its support for its football ambassadors Phil and James Younghusband as the Younghusband Football Academy partners with the Chelsea Football Club in the Philippines and open their own football school.

Phil and James signed up with AKTV last November to become the sports channel’s football ambassador for the next three years. The two brought their football expertise to AKTV via their segment called FYI: Football Younghusband Instructional where they teach the basics of football to viewers. The show continues to gain admiration and support of sports fans.

“There are so many reasons why they are football ambassadors of AKTV. One, they are great role models. The two are stars in the national team. They have led their football club Loyola to the UFL Cup finals, and are spearheading the team to the top of the current UFL tournament. And they continue their advocacy of teaching children football in the country despite their busy schedule. We congratulate them for the establishment of this football school,” said AKT sports manager Vitto Lazatin.

The star players of the national team have been doing their role of teaching Filipino kids the basics of football since 2009. Through the TYFA, the brothers have brought football nationwide as they partner with LGUs in bringing the sport across the country.

The brothers, having graduated from the Chelsea Football Academy in England, will undergo training to formally become coaches and be eligible to teach football in the Philippines under the auspices of the famed English football club. The Chelsea FC Soccer School is a long-term project which also includes the construction of a football facility. Chelsea FC representative Adrian New, managing director for Asia, and Ian Woodroffe, international development officer, also flew in for the event.

The Chelsea FC Soccer School held a special summer camp at the Evia football field beginning April 17. The event has been supported by AKTV, McDonald’s with the support of the Bellevue Manila, SM Mall of Asia, Evia, Smart, Gatorade, Adidas, Hyundai, 3M and ProEvents. The culmination of this summer’s activities coincides with the formal launch of the Chelsea FC Soccer School Philippines.

The Younghusbands are seen on AKTV everyday on FYI with fresh episodes every Saturday. UFL games are also aired live on Saturdays starting at 2 p.m. The two are part of the Loyola Meralco Sparks FC which is in contention for top spot of the UFL.
