Tuason, Tanlu eye 2nd wins in Champions of the Future

MANILA, Philippines - Young racing aspirants gear up for another intense battle when the second leg of the Castrol Champions of the Future Series is fired off tomorrow at the Boomland Kart Track.

AT Tuason and Mark Tanlu gun for their second straight wins in their respective divisions with the former, a grade 6 La Salle Zobel student, tipped to dominate the Expert division and the latter confident of his title chances in the Novice class of the event powered by Castrol, BMW, Automobile Association of the Philippines, AUTS Racing, Standard Insurance, PIKA, OMP, Industria, Tuason Racing School, OMP, Kzone, Lifeline Ambulance, Carmona Race Track, The Philippine STAR, Hastravel.com, 99.5 RT and Timezone.

Tuason seeks a repeat win over Flynn Jackes, William Casequin and Xedrei Daquigan with Fil-Aussie Jackes also looming as a tough rival following his victory in the Mini-ROK crown in the National Karting Series recently.

Tanlu, who also posted his second win in the National Karting Series, eyes another victory over seven-year-old Bobby Redpath, eight-year-old Jelly Ann Knapp, 11-year-old Julia Delos Angeles, 10-year-old Jacob Paolo Ang, and eight-year-old Eduardo Coseteng.

The Castrol Champions of the Future Series is a grassroots program aimed at providing an entry point for young racing enthusiasts to try out the sport of kart racing.  

Registration starts at 8 a.m. before these participants get the feel of the track during the open practice at 9 a.m. Qualifying time trials are set at 11 a.m. while the pre-final and final races are slated in the afternoon.

The winner of the series will be given a scholarship package to run in the National Karting Series from AAP under multi-awarded race car drivers and champion makers JP and Mike Tuason.
