MANILA, Philippines - Joji David and Jimmy Punzalan of Batch 75 pulled off a thrilling 6-4, 7-6 victory over Reagan Patriarca and Joel Gabay of Batch 84 to bag the doubles crown in the Don Bosco Tarlac Alumni Association (DBTAA) tennis tournament at the San Sebastian claycourts in Tarlac City recently.
Noel Benedicto and Jovy Mamawal of Batch 77 finished third while Alexis Lopez of Batch 2003 captured the tennis singles crown in the event which served as part of DBTAA sports program.
Other winners in the event, also known as the Maclang Cup Sportfest were Batch 1999 (futsal), Kuy Obillos of Batch 1995 (darts), Dante Balingit of Batch 1988 (badminton, singles), Joey Hipolito-Boogie Lacquian of Batch 1985 (badminton, doubles), MJ Magsino of Batch 2002 (badminton, Under-30, singles), and Ronan Salvador-Deo Miranda of Batch 2001 (badminton, Under-30, doubles);
Green Batch team (volleyball), Bernard Garcia of Batch 1989 (table tennis, singles), Faizal Mahmod-Carl Flaminiano of Batch 2010 (table tennis, doubles), Ryan Gonzales of Batch 2003 (table tennis, Under-30, singles) and Jayson Dizon of Batch 1999 (billiards).
Meanwhile, Tarlac Chapter president Pipo Soliman said the awarding of the Maclang Cup winners, including the golf tournament, will be held in conjunction with the Don Bosco Alumni National Federation convention to be hosted by Don Bosco Tarlac today.
