NCFP holds national age group tourney

MANILA, Philippines - The National Chess Federation of the Phils. holds the final leg of the National age-group chess championships on April 7-10 with the country’s leading junior players vying for honors at the Gov. Corazon Cabagnot Tourism and Training Center in Kalibo, Aklan.

The Visayas leg, hosted and sponsored by the Aklan provincial government headed by Gov. Carlito Marquez and organized by the NCFP led by president/chair Butch Pichay, is open to all players 20 years old and below.

The top finishers will make up the Philippine team competing in the ASEAN+ age group chess championship slated June 10-20 in Hue, Vietnam.

The top five finishers will join the qualifiers from the Luzon and Mindanao legs in the grand finals set in Tanauan, Batangas on April 23-30. The winners will clinch berths in the Asian Youth Championships slated June 23-30 in Sri Lanka.
