MANILA, Philippines - Defending champion Alabang and Tagaytay Highlands clinched the top spots in their respective divisions after posting convincing victories over separate opponents in the Ladies Federation Golf League in various venues recently.
Alabang chalked up its third straight win with a 4-0 rout of Orchard as it firmed up its hold of the top spot in Group 1 with 11 points after starting its title-retention bid with two straight draws.
In the same division, Valley kept its semifinal hopes alive by turning back Forest Hills, 3-1. With 4 points on two wins and three losses, Valley is just a point behind Forest Hills in their looming duel for the second semis seat.
Highlands likewise made it three in a row after a 3.5-.5 dumping of erstwhile co-leader Manila Southwoods.
Highlands kept an unblemished 3-0-0 slate heading into the final elims game today also against Southwoods which totes a 1-2-1 record. Southwoods, however, is already assured of the other semis slot in Group 2 as Sta. Elena is far behind with just a point in four matches.
Valley hosts Forest Hills in a make-or-break duel while Orchard needs no less than a 4-0 sweep over Alabang to have a shot at the semis.
