Philex Mining supports Kennon run

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s biggest and oldest mining company is throwing its full support to the first Kennon Global Marathon (KGM) which will run from Tuba, Benguet to Baguio City on April 15.

Philex senior vice president Atty. Michael Toledo said the company is honored to be part of the first and only uphill marathon in the country which will be held at the historic and scenic Kennon Road.

The Benguet-based Philex is now the title sponsor of the KGM. Philex, whose tagline is “There’s life in mining,” will have an exhibit at the finish line grounds highlighting mining’s contribution to the growth of Benguet and Baguio. Other sponsors include Tiong San Department Store, LBC, Smart, Fortune General Insurance, Toby’s, and Victory Liner. 

KGM is sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association. 

The city government of Baguio and municipal government of Tuba, Benguet are also backing KGM together with the Department of Public Works and Highways, the Philippine National Police Baguio and Tuba, the Baguio Emergency Communications Group, Spectrum Bag-iw, Baguio General Hospital, the 911 On Call, Red Cross Baguio and Benguet, the Boy Scouts of the Philippines, the University of Baguio, and the National Institute for Information Technology.

Registration for the 3K, 5K, 8.5K and 21K are ongoing at Tiong San Baguio and La Trinidad and through www.kennonmarathon.org.
