MANILA, Philippines - Young racing wannabes only have two more chances to live up their dreams as Castrol Philippines and Tuason Racing School, the country’s premier racing school, have reset the last two karting clinics of the “Castrol Champions of the Future” discovery program on April 1 and April 15 at the Carmona Racetrack.
The karting clinics are open to kids 7 to 13 years old.
The event is presented by Castrol and Tuason Racing School and sponsored by the Automobile Association Philippines, Philippine International Karting Association (PIKA), OMP, AUTS Racing, Industria Racing, BMW, Hastravel, 99.5RT, Lifeline Ambulance, KZone and TimeZone.
The two proponents formulated the program in their thrust to discover and develop champion potentials, and also ensure the continuous transition of talents to intensify the development of Philippine motorsports.
The karting clinics will provide these young aspiring racing wannabes the basics of racing and other techniques under the tutelage of multi-titled champions JP and Mike Tuason.
A number of young talented greenhorns showed up in the past three clinics as TRS president JP Tuason admits he’s having a hard time making a short list of initial nominees who will be chosen for the program.
Only 20 of these aspiring kids will make it to the next phase where they will battle each other for the title in the three-leg “Castrol Champions of the Future Series”.
The races are set April 22 in Carmona, May20 at Boomland and the championship leg on June24 at the Carmona Racetrack.
Scholarship seats aside from other prizes are up for grabs for those who will be picked from the program.
“On our second season, it seems that the Castrol Champions of the Future Series is starting to establish itself as the gateway of young kids to get into karting. It’s inspiring to see a huge number of young kids showed up to be discovered but we didn’t expect that the selection process for the Final 20 to be this tough this year,” said Castrol president Mars Sota.
“Though only 20 will be selected, we believe there will be more kids from this year’s batch who will be shining shining in the local karting scene this year. And one of them will rise to be the next Karter of the Year and possibly a world racing champion,” added TRS president JP Tuason.
Last year, it was Raymond Cudala who emerged the overall winner of the Castrol Champions of the Future Series and further proved himself deserving of the distinction when he captured the overall Cadet SQ Expert crown of the National Karting Series.
Aside from Cudala, other products of the said program also glittered and carved their own milestones like William Casequin, Arthur Tuason and Flynn Jackes who made it in the top 5 of the Cadet SQ Expert class, and so with Bryan Thorp, Gabe Tayao, Dylan Arambulo, Xedrei Daquigan and Jose Luigi Lachica in the Cadet SQ Novice division.
