MANILA, Philippines - Blackwater Sports owner Dioceldo Sy re-builds his team for the coming PBA D-League following the team’s failed semis bid in the ongoing Aspirants’ Cup.
The former PBL chairman has instructed coach Leo Isaac to conduct tryouts on Jan. 30-31 to enable them to select the best players available and train early.
“The marching order is to build a championship team,” said team manager Johnson Martinez. “We intend to build a much taller team this time.”
The two-day tryout, according to Martinez, starts from 10 a.m. at the San Juan gym.
Backstopped by several UST and La Salle players, the Blackwater Elite failed to sustain a good start and fell with a string of losses, including a quarterfinal setback to Big Chill.
“We need to train them early in order for them to know each other well. Communication is very important in forming a chemistry,” said Sy.
