MANILA, Philippines - Big Chill and Freego Jeans go for the other two semifinal berths against Blackwater and Boracay Rum, respectively, today, needing just a pair of victories to join NLEX and Cebuana Lhuillier in the Final Four of the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup.
The fourth seeded Big Chill takes on No. 5 Blackwater at 2 p.m. while the No. 3 Freego Jeans plays sixth-ranked Boracay Rum in the 4 p.m. main game at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Superchargers and the Jeans Makers enjoy twice-to-beat edges with the former hoping to ride on the momentum of their 58-55 victory over the Elite last week.
“We expect Blackwater to come out with a lot of aggressiveness and intensity, so we can’t be complacent,” said Big Chill coach Arsenio Dysangco.
Big Chill starting guard Raffy Reyes, who didn’t see action last week, is expected to suit up.
The Elite checked their skid and routed Pacific Pipes, 65-48, last Tuesday to clinch the last quarters berth.
“They are a different team now compared to our elimination game. We have to want it more, I think that’s the key,” Dysangco said.
Freego Jeans also toppled Boracay Rum in the elims but the Waves remain confident of their chances.
“We need to build on the momentum that we have acquired from our knockout game (against PC Gilmore) and carry that momentum against Freego Jeans,” said the Boracay Rum coach Lawrence Chongson.
