Lesnar-Overeem clash caps Balls UFC season

MANILA, Philippines - Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem slug it out in Las Vegas for the last Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) main event match of the year.

Balls (SkyCable Channel 34), the home of the UFC in the Philippines, will telecast the much-awaited bout dubbed as “UFC 141: Lesnar vs Overeem” on Saturday starting at 11:30 a.m.

One of mixed martial arts (MMA) acclaimed superstars, Lesnar, the UFC heavyweight champion, has never backed down from a challenge. His showdown with Overeem, a world-class striker, proves it, making this the perfect way to end the year for the fans.

The 6-3 Lesnar used to be an accomplished amateur wrestler, winning some of the world’s most prestigious wrestling games. After a few years, he decided to shift from being a wrestler to a full-fledged MMA fighter.

He, however, bowed to Frank Mir in his UFC debut in 2007 but won the UFC heavyweight championship title from Randy Couture the following year. He then avenged his loss to Mir at UFC 100.

Overeem, on the other hand, is the former Strikeforce heavyweight champion, dream interim heavyweight titlist and the K-1 World Grand Prix champion. He also made history by being the only fighter in combat sports to hold a world title in both MMA and K-1 kickboxing at the same time.

Also in UFC 141, welterweight contenders Jon Fitch and Johny Hendricks clash in the 170-pound weight class.
