MANILA, Philippines - Xavier 4 staged a big rally to seize the upperhand in the Midgets 1 and set the stage for a final round showdown with La Salle Greenhills 5 in the ICTSI Inter-school golf tournament at the Ayala Greenfield Golf Leisure Club.
Down by six after 36 holes, Kendrick Diaz, Lorenzo Fores, Matthew Dybuncio and Vince Ngo aggregated 90 for the day and the Xavier boys ended up outscoring LSGH 5 by 19 points for a 13-point advantage through three rounds with a 300 aggregate.
Diaz and Fores each had 32 while Dybuncio finished with 26. Ngo did not count with his 17.
LSGH showed up with just three players and the trio of Ryan Monsalve, EZ Serapio and Maki Reyes ended with only 71 points for the day for a 287 total.
Colegio San Agustin was running third at 273, La Salle Zobel 3 was at 260, Xavier 5 at 255 and Brent 2 at 251.
While La Salle Zobel enjoyed an 11-point lead over Assumption in Girls 2 play, St. Paul-Pasig, La Salle Greenhills 1 and and Ateneo 2 have firmed up their positions in other classes of the tourney siupported by International Container Terminal Services, Inc., Philippine Airlines, Chevrolet, Pancake House Group, Teriyaki Boy and Sizzlin’ Pepper.
The final round yesterday was hosted by Ayala Greenfield Estates.
St. Paul Pasig (Marvi Monsalve, Daniella Uy and Anne Sabater) was far ahead of Assumption 1 (243), LSGH (JP del Claro, AR Ramos, Gus Pacheco and Inigo Raymundo) paced Ateneo 1 by 88 points with their 539 while Ateneo 2 (Aidric Jose Chan, Carl Jano Corpus and Marc Elson Corrales) was at 310 and leading Ateneo 3 (202) by a big margin.
The individual leaders were Daniella Uy in Girls 1, Sam Bruce of Assumption in Girls 2, JP de Claro in juniors,Kristoffer Arevalo in Midgets 1, Chan in Midgets 2 and Allan Bumagat in the seniors division.
