Cebuana, Boracay rip D-League rivals

MANILA, Philippines - Cebuana Lhuillier got its offense going in the middle quarters as it beat Cobra Energy Drink, 58-47, while Boracay Rhum blasted Café France, 65-46, in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Trinity University of Asia gym yesterday.

Terrence Romeo scored 12 points and Vic Manuel had 11 rebounds for the Gems, who overcome a fiery charge by the Iron Men in the fourth quarter to fashion out the victory.

Cobra pulled to within, 39-45, but the Ironmen failed to sustain their charge and wavered down the stretch.

John Noble shot 10 points while Josan Nimes struggled for two points for Cobra, which also dropped a 76-82 setback to Big Chill last Tuesday.

Boracay also rode on a strong second quarter run to drop Café France and bounce back from its 65-68 defeat to the pacesetting Blackwater Elite.

Joseph Terso hit a triple to key a big 11-3 Boracay run in the second quarter to post double-digit leads en route to victory.
