Pastor tests V8 supercars in Australia

-

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino driver Enzo Pastor tested the V8 Supercars in Australia recently and the newly elected CEO international director Martin Whitaker was impressed by the way he drove the Team Vodafone car at the Queensland Raceway.

“He has really acquitted himself fantastically well. He ran in the wet this morning and did some very respectable times while keeping it on the island. As the track dried they put him on some slicks and then some soft rubber and he performed well,” said Whitaker.

“We’re a long way down the line on negotiations and the development of staging a race in the Philippines. Enzo is a leading exponent of his sport and is very keen to help develop the sport. It’s a work in progress. An announcement was made five or six weeks ago that their sports commission is supporting the event actively and pursuing the opportunity, with the aim of holding a race in 2013, added Whitaker.

“I’m very encouraged, we have some very good momentum going, which includes the development of the circuit in Clark. It will be a great facility where it has a number of internationally known hotels, golf clubs, restaurants and most importantly it also has an international airport within a kilometer of the race track. It’s a magnificent venue for us, because it has flights right in and out of Korea, Hong Kong, Thailand, so it provides every opportunity for people who love V8 Supercar racing in South East Asia to travel to that particular race,” said Pastor.
