Young guns brace for tough duels in Petron Blaze karting

MANILA, Philippines - The young guns gear up for showdown today as they try to bolster their respective title bids in the sixth and penultimate leg of the Petron Blaze Karting Super Series at the Clark International Speedway in Clark Field, Pampanga.

Cebuano Jette Calderon of Industria Racing and Sacha Feliciano of FERN-C Racing go for crucial wins in their respective divisions with the former eyeing no less than the Junior Karter of the Year plum against Industria Racing teammate Franco Reyes and Vrei-AR Suba of FERN-C Racing.

The three are closely bunched in the fight for the ROK Junior division title.

Calderon remains on top with 269 despite a third place finish in the last leg. Reyes is in second overall with 255 points while Suba has 246 points for third. 

Estefano Rivera, who won at the Enchanted Kingdom recently, is also in the title hunt at fourth with 144 points.

Feliciano also braces for a tight duel with Tuason Racing’s Basti Escalante in Formula SL Novice class of the event sanctioned by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP) and sponsored by Petron Blaze 100, San Miguel Corporation, Aeromed, Denso Iridium Power, Motorstar Eastway and Yokohama Philippines.

She leads the title race with 327 points, four point ahead of Escalante. Out to foil their bid are Jaz Monzones, Adrian Tambuyat, One Racing’s Wayne Norman Darvin, Adrian Louis Angeles, Sean Velasco and Jason Ryan Difonturom among others.

Also aiming to preserve their leads are Carl Pollington of FERN-C Racing, Tuason Racing’s Raymond Cudala and AUTS Racing’s Bryan Thorp.

Pollington seeks victory in the Mini-ROK class against Cebuano Vince Adrian Rojo, Xedrei Daquigan and Shaira Milla.

Cudala, meanwhile, tries to make it sixth straight in the Cadet SQ Expert class over teammates William Casequin and Arthur Tuason while Thorp tries to dominate the Cadet SQ Novice division anew over Xedrei Daquigan and Gabe Tayao.
