Model, singer back 'Kick the Habit' run

MANILA, Philippines - Commercial model Amanda Coling and pop singer Lana Roi have thrown their support to the “Kick the Habit 2: Love and Run to a Healthy Lifestyle” health and running clinics against cigarette smoking, which culminates in a fun run on Nov. 26 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

Coling and Roi joined organizer Ronald delos Reyes in yesterday’s PSA forum at Shakey’s UN Ave. to generate awareness on the physical risks of smoking while offering running as a means to “kick the habit.”

“I believe in this advocacy and for me, personally, it is a means for me to move on,” said Coling.

She said she wholeheartedly supports the health cum running clinics “because I know smokers who want to quit can be helped by going into running” in the session supported by Pagcor, Smart, Outlast Battery and Shakey’s.

Roi, who was the 2009 Century Supebods grand champion and former Eurasia lead singer, echoed Coling’s sentiments by saying “while I myself have never smoked in my life, we want smokers to know that they can give it up by indulging in running.”

“Running is still one of the best ways to fitness and healthy living,” she said.

On the other hand, Delos Reyes said they have had two clinics so far with the third featuring Coling set at 2 to 6 p.m. on Saturday at the Philsports Complex in Pasig City.

“We will have a total of health and running seminars conducted by experts from Healthway Medical, with the actual fun runs in the 1, 3, 5, and 10-kilometer races set on Nov. 26 starting at the Quirino Grandstand at the Rizal Park,” he said.

Delos Reyes added that the series of clinics of running clinics will be held every Saturday before the running competition.

Part of the proceeds of the fun run will go to the Lung Center of the Philippines and the New Vois Association of the Philippines.
