Sea Lions top Generals for CDL lead

MANILA, Philippines - Olivarez College-Parañaque beat Emilio Aguinaldo College, 86-71, to grab the solo lead in the Philippine Sports Commission-Sandugo Collegiate Development League (CDL) at the Olivarez gym in Sucat last Friday.

Eldridge Corpuz made a flawless stint from beyond the arc, hitting seven triples en route to a 23-point output as the Sea Lions notched their second straight victory.

Lester Dickens, Mark Eugene Madera, and John Daniel Flores scored 11, 10, and nine points, respectively, for Olivarez, the NCRAA champion in 2009.

John Marco Tayongtong led the Generals with 20 points.

Olivarez College kicked off its campaign with a 141-38 demolition of St. Paul’s College-QC at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in last week’s opener of the league.

The Generals, who beat Informatics College-QC, 88-56, last week, fell to 1-1.

In other results, National U disposed of UE, 95-55, and FEU held off Trinity University of Asia, 77-65, UE thwarted Informatics, 71-2, for similar 1-1 slates.

TUA rebounded from that loss to FEU with a 133-60 win over SPC-QC, also last Friday.
