Manotoc, Espiritu establish new cage agency

MANILA, Philippines - A partnership made up of sons of influential basketball personalities has been established which promises to revolutionize the landscape of player-management in the country.

Matthew Manotoc, son of PBA Hall of Fame and Grand Slam-winning coach Tommy Manotoc, and Marvin Espiritu, PBA agent Danny Espiritu’s youngest son, have merged to form the Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management (www.embm.ph) that will now take player-management to the next level.

Manotoc graduated from Claremont McKenna College in the United States and has worked with the WNBA and Philippine Sports Commission.

He will also start the Manotoc Management Group, Philippines (MMGP), the first sports agency to harness and maximize premier athletes outside of basketball.

Espiritu, on the other hand, is an established businessman who has worked alongside his father for decades, granting him invaluable contractual and industry knowledge.

Within a few months, EMBM already services three high-profile Smart-Gilas players, with the promising Japeth Aguilar headlining the roster.

Apart from standard contract negotiations, EMBM guarantees that each of its clients will receive special services including endorsements, financial planning, sports psychology, PR and marketing plans, and off-season training, things previously unheard of in player-management.

“We want our clients to be seen as celebrities, similar to Kobe (Bryant) and LeBron (James), with the ability to endorse mainstream products,” Manotoc said.
