Walker banners Phl bid in world swimfest

-

MANILA, Philippines - London-based national swimmer Charlie Walker, a Fil-European with roots in Iloilo, will represent the country in the FINA World Swimming championship this month in Shanghai, China together with Jasmine Alkhaldi and Jessie Lacuna.

Walker, who has signed with Speedo, has been training under national coach Archie Lim, with hopes of figuring prominently in the world championship.

A Sports Science student at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Walker has been a member of the national team since 2007 when he competed for the country in various international competitions.

He won three silver medals and one bronze in the 2009 SEA Games in Laos.

“We are honored to have Charlie as a member of Speedo family and are grateful to be part of his development as a national swimmer and in achieving his goals for the country,” Speedo sales and marketing manager Mayleen Valentino said at the contract-signing held in the brand’s flagship store at Bonifacio High Street.
