MANILA, Philippines - Action in the World Slasher Cup 2011 resumes today with 90 new entries taking on each other for spots in the semifinal round at the Araneta Coliseum.
Ninety-four entries slugged it out in the first batch of competitors in the preliminaries with the next group battling it out starting at 1 p.m. in the event hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions and presented by Bmeg Derby Ace with Thunderbird Enertone as major sponsor.
Meanwhile, reigning Bb. Pilipinas beauties namely, Shamcey Supsup (Ms. Universe-Philippines), Dianne Necio (Bb. Pilipinas-International), and Isabella Manjon (Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism) graced the launched of the second part of the World Slasher Cup over the weekend.
Fielding in their entries in today’s event are the Marvin Rillo-Elmer Nepomuceno tandem, Bakbakan and WSC titlist Gengen Arayata, Sonny Lagon, Sonnie Magtibay, Rey Briones and Bernie Tacoy.
The two-cock semis starts tomorrow with Group A disputing berths in the four-cock finals and the Group B cast clashing on June 9. The four-cock finals for Group A is set June 11 while the Group B finalists will fight it out on June 12.
Defending solo champion Patrick Antonio leads the first batch with five entries, Gov. Edelmiro Amante of Agusan del Norte with three, while Efren Canlas, Boy Marzo, Rey Briones, Biboy Enriquez, Jim Clem, Baba Yap/Eugene Tan, Honey Yu and Mayor Cito Alberto had two entries each.
Meanwhile, Louisiana’s Wilbert LeBlanc it tipped to contend for the WSC crown along with American gamefowl breeders Roger Roberts (Georgia), Ray Alexander (Alabama), Clarence Perkins (Kentucky), Jason Campbell, Bill McNatt, Chris Casilan (Hawaii), Jeff Hudspeth (California), Randy Hall (Texas), Tyrone Kennedy (Alabama), Mike Formosa (Hawaii) and Gerard Inman.
