MANILA, Philippines - With a perfect 8-0 showing in the 2011 World Slasher Cup 1 last January, Patrick Antonio’s Sagupaan B-50 is the entry to watch in the World Slasher Cup-2 Eight-Cock Invitational Derby which unwraps tomorrow at the Araneta Coliseum.
Antonio looks to become the first gamefowl breeder to score back-to-back World Slasher Cup conquest since Peping Ricafort achieved the feat in 2000 with his PTK Yucatan.
The 2011 World Slasher Cup-2, hosted by the Pintakasi of Champions and presented by B-MEG Derby Ace with Thunderbird Enertone as major sponsor, has drawn more than 180 foreign and local entries.
Among foreign sportsmen challenging Antonio are Americans Roger Roberts, Ray Alexander, Kali Casco, Sedfrey Linsangan, Jorge Goitia, Zosimo Antivo, Clarence Perkins, Carol Nesthmith, Jorge Torres, Zaldy Sandoval, Jason Campbell, Bill McNatt, Chris Casilan, Jeff Hudspeth, Randy Hall, Tyrone Kennedy, Mike Formosa, Taiwanese Tony Ang and Aussies Gerard Inmam and Peter Uren.
The derby starts with the two-cock eliminations tomorrow and Tuesday, the two-cock semifinals Wednesday and Thursday and the four-cock finals Saturday and Sunday.
The event was formally launched at the Gateway Suites in Gateway Mall at the Araneta Center in Cubao, Quezon City yesterday.
