Manila, Philippines - De La Salle-Zobel and Makati High School rolled to their second straight victories in varying fashions to seize the lead in the Girls A and Boys A divisions, respectively, in the first Dunkin’ Big Dunk high school beach volleyball tournament at the UE-Caloocan sand courts recently.
The Alabang-based squad dominated International Christian Academy in the decider to complete a second straight three-set victory, 11-9, 6-11, 11-2, to wrest control of Girls A in the tournament put up by Dunkin’ Donuts to help develop the sport and discover fresh talents.
Harrel Horne Integrated School (HHIS) posted back-to-back victories over St. James Academy-Malabon, 11-7, 11-9, and Grace Christian College, 11-8, 7-11, 11-7, after losing to St. James College-Parañaque, 9-11, 3-11, to move to second with a 2-1 card.
MHS, on the other hand, beat GCC, 11-4, 11-2, and St. James-Malabon (SJM), 11-7, 11-9, to pace Boys A in the tournament backed by Shakey’s, LBC, Toby’s Sports, Mikasa, Asics, Mighty Sports and Metro Sports.
UST, which hurdled its opening day assignment against Grace Aces, 5-11, 11-6, 12-10, but lost to Hope Mighty Sports, 11-9, 6-11, 7-11, trounced St. James Anglers, 11-6, 11-7, to wrest the lead in Girls B.
