Reynante leads cast in LBC Ronda

MANILA, Philippines - Veteram campaigner Lloyd Lucien Reynante leads a power cast of riders from the National Capital Region when he vies for the champion’s purse of P1M in the LBC Ronda Pilipinas against a field of 90 riders from 15 teams in the 20-day, 12-stage cycling tour of key cities of the country’s three major islands in September.

Reynante, son of cycling legend Manuel Reynante, topped the second of five regional eliminations with a time of four hours, seven minutes, 31 seconds on a 150.7 km route along the Romulo Highway outside Tarlac City over the weekend.

Reynante will lead the NCR team in the main race of the LBC Ronda Pilipinas, which offers a cash pot of P1 million to the individual champion and another P1 million to the team champion, with prizes scaled down to 20th place in the individual category and to the last-placed or 15th team in team competition.

Other NCR members who passed the qualifying races were Frederick Feliciano (4:10:45.9), former Maarlboro Tour champion Warren Davadilla (4:12:51.7), Tots Oledan (4:26:07.4), Roby Urbano (4:31.47.3) and Daryll Dann Bernabe (4:31:48.1).

The qualifying race for Visayas will be held today at Silay, Ngros Occidental, while the Mindanao eliminations will be held May 15 in Malaybalay, Bukidnon.

Members of the Southern Tagalog team are Nelson Mangahis, Manuel Naluz III, Ermelito Atilano, Michael Ochoa, Alexie Camerino and Elmer Atilano, while the Bicolandia team is composed of Cris Joven, Eusebio Quinones, Alvin Espinosa, John Ricafort, Michael Pili, Irish Valenzuela and Alan Ricafort.

Other teams formed from the Luzon trials are Sherwin Diamsay, Elmo Ramos, Joseph Millanes, Tomas Martinez, Anthony Miranda and Daniel Asto (Central Luzon), Julius Diaz, Jefren Tiqui, Greg Gines, Roderick Acosta, Stalin Benito and Joseph Salcedo (Cagayan Valley) and Kelvin John Mendoza, Ryan Serapio, Jason Garillo, Nilo Estayo, Dolar Leal, and Jernico Brioso (Ilocandia).
