Manila, Philippines - Ateneo Football Club and Army Victory A reigned in their respective divisions in the first Cherifer Football Festival held over the weekend at the Army Service Command (ASCOM) football field in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
The Blue Eagles upset powerhouse Army Victory A via penalty shootout, 3-2, to claim the championship in Boys 99 division of the event backed by InterMed Marketing Philippines (Cherifer Vitamins) headed by Tim Meneses and brother Joel and sanctioned by the Philippine Football Federation.
In the distaff side of the seven A-side, club champion Army Victory-A outplayed Miriam College through penalty shootout, 3-2, to grab the Girls 95 division crown.
In Boys 95, Don Bosco Tondo edged Sta. Rosa, 2-1, while Army Victory-A outplayed Army Victory-B in Girls 99 bracket.
The day-long event is organized by Bernard Ocampo and Domingo Lacuesta of Dream Sports and supported by Philippine Army Football Club headed by Sgt. Ricky Cain and tournament director Ravelo Saluria.
