MANILA, Philippines - Manila Southwoods and Alabang loom as the teams to beat in the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines Interclub Championship firing off tomorrow at the Splendido Taal Golf and Country Club and the Royale Tagaytay Golf Club.
The Southwoods bid in the 54-hole event will be led by veteran internationalists AR Ramos, Maan Legaspi and siblings Marvi and Ivan Monsalve while Alabang will parade Andres Saldana, Sebastian Lorenzo, Gabriel Manotoc and Jama Reyes.
They will be eyeing the centerpiece Division 1 crown against teams representing six other clubs in the tourney officially kicking off the ICTSI Junior Golf Circuit also backed by Pancake House Group, Terriyaki Boy, Sizzling Pepper, Chevrolet, PAL, Pisanti, Golf Depot, Pacsports, Livescoresph, Duty Free, Coca-Cola, San Miguel Beer, Pacsports and McDonald’s.
Alabang’s Division 2 roster, meanwhile, includes the multi-titled nine-year-old Bernice Olivares-Ilas.
Also vying for the team and individual awards in three divisions over 54 holes are Aguinaldo Golf Club, Club Intramuros, EastRidge, Philippine Navy Golf Club, TAT Filipinas and the Veterans Golf Club.
Aguinaldo is fielding the biggest contingent of 36 players among them circuit standouts like Kristoffer Arevalo, Montecillo Cup veteran JP de Claro, Aris Mata, Justin Dy and Felicia Medalla.
Competitions in Classes A, B, C and D will be played at the windswept Splendido while the kids in the E and F categories will compete in Royale Tagaytay.
