MANILA, Philippines – The City government of Pasay will host the 2011 National Capital Region (NCR) Palaro at the Pasay City Science High School ground next week.
Mayor Antonio Calixto said after improving the quality of sports as part of educational system of the city’s public schools, it is now prepared to host the event set Feb. 16-18.
The Mayor delivered an inspirational message to the delegates of the different public schools in the National Capital Region during the General Assembly held yesterday at the Pasay City Science High School and assured them of full cooperation for the betterment of sports and education as a tool to improve the mental, physical and the lives of the future athletic heroes of our nation.
He also said that through sports development programs, he was able to divert the interests of the youth, away from dangerous drugs that have ruin their future.
Events on tap are tennis, archery, dance sports, baseball, football, softball, arnis, athletics, badminton, basketball, boxing and in addition, chess, gymnastics, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo and volleyball. The NCR elims will choose the most talented athletes which will represent the region in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa.
Participating teams come from Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela, Las Piñas, Makati, Mandaluyong, Marikina, Manila, Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Pasig, Quezon, Taguig, Pateros and the municipality of San Juan.
