MANILA, Philippines – De La Salle-Lipa kicks off its campaign in the Toby’s Juniors Volleyball League as it collides with Jesus Christ Academy and Academy of God’s Children at resumption of action today at the Lyceum gym.
The La Sallites battle the JCA tossers in the lone girls’ match at 9 a.m. while their boys’ squad squares off with AGC at 10 a.m.
Two other boys matches are on tap in the second playdate of the league featuring the leading junior spikers and rising stars with Xavier and Palanan Elem. School also debuting in the 11 a.m. game.
Ateneo, on the other hand, opens its bid against Concepcion Elem. School at 1 p.m.
Colegio San Agustin shows the way in the early going of the tournament sponsored by Toby’s Sports and organized by Metro Sports. The CSA spikers toppled AGC, 25-13, 25-15, in boys’ play then dominated La Salle-Canlubang, 25-6, 25-10, in the girls’ category.
F. Benitez III Elem. School also posted a straight-set win over JCA, 25-12, 25-15, in last week’s opener of the tournament backed by Shakey’s Pizza, LBC, Mikasa and Asics.
The top two teams in each bracket of both divisions after a single round-robin elims will advance to the crossover semis with the winners clashing for the crown in best-of-five sets.
