MANILA, Philippines - It’s going to be a special edition of Rod Nazario’s In This Corner tonight as it airs Michael Landero’s successful title defense of his Orient Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) mini-flyweight belt against Yasutaka Kuroki in Ibaragi, Japan.
The 12-round match to be aired over NBN-4 from 7-8 p.m. and presented by Ginebra San Miguel, San Miguel Beer, Purefoods, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), Biogenic Isopropyl Alcohol and Petron, was held last Sept. 25 and served as Landero’s first defense of the 105-pound crown he won over Kenichi Horikawa.
Landero was just one of three Filipino boxers who triumphed abroad last month.
Unbeaten Allan Tanada claimed the OPBF super-featherweight title against Rikiya Fukuhara in Saitama, Japan while Dan Nazareno Jr. snatched the PABA light-welterweight crown at the expense of Manfah Luksaikongdin in Thailand.
