MANILA, Philippines - With the semifinals cast complete, the only thing left undecided in the PABA Super Baseball Tournament elimination round is the final standings.
RP Youth-Ateneo clashes with Rizal Technological University at 9 a.m. today at the Korean Baseball Field in Carmona, Cavite to determine who will occupy the number three spot.
The two teams fought to a 3-all standoff in 10 innings during the opening day of the tournament.
Officials of both camps, however, agreed to play the game from the start instead of resuming it in the 11th innings as the Eagles and the SCUAA champion would also want to use the game as part of their tune-up heading into the crossover semifinals next weekend.
The winner will claim third place and will face second seed RP-Entom while the loser settles for fourth and will play top team RP-Philab.
RP-Philab seeks to sweep the four-game single round elimination as it clashes with RTU in the 1 p.m. game.
Meanwhile, PABA is planning a second edition of tournament to start a week after the culmination of the first edition.
RP-Philab, RP-Entom, RP Youth-Ateneo and a team from Alabang are to see action although tournament director and PABA executive vice president Eladio Baradas is hoping teams from the UAAP will also join the tournament.
“This tournament is a good tune-up for the UAAP teams preparing for the baseball competition because they will be up against the best players in the country,” said Baradas.
