MANILA, Philippines - The Naga City government will hold the Peñafrancia Festival Bicol Open Chess Championship on Sept. 28-29 at the LCC Mall in Naga City.
The tournament serves as the final part of the Naga City’s sports activities in line with the celebrations of Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
It also aims to develop local talents from the grassroots level and at the same time boost local and sports tourism and advocate peace and development in the region.
Women International Master Christine Rose Mariano will also hold a simultaneous chess exhibition with 10-15 kids to spice up the tournament held in cooperation with the Naga City Chess Club and LCC Mall.
